Sirius of the Week for August 12 - 18, 2001
Jupiter is an 18 month old Golden Retriever who lives in Northern
Virginia. He is a very friendly pup and is well known to other
dogs, kids and adults alike from his daily walks throughout the
neighborhood and his regular visits to the local dog parks.
Jupiter's official role is the "god of light, of the sky and weather,
and of the state and its welfare and its laws." When he is finished
with those duties each day, he likes to blow off steam by lounging
in the hammock and listening to the birds chirp in his backyard.
During the hot Washington, DC summer days, Jupiter enjoys sitting in
his giant water bowl (a baby pool) for extended periods.
Jupiter gets very excited by road-trip vacations as he loves car
rides (and often refuses to get out of the car after accompanying his
parents on errands). For food snacks, Jupiter likes vegetables if a
human is eating them too but not if they are just left in his dinner
bowl. But, his real preference is Frosty Paws ice cream. Jupiter's
favorite toy is a Golden Retriever stuffed animal that he carries
around in his mouth on walks.
At Jupiter's 1-year old birthday party this past January, he invited
friends over for cake and games and party hats and really enjoyed
being the center of attention (a role he is fairly used to).
When things are quieter in the house, Jupiter likes to nap and when
awake, is happiest when leaning against a human being.
