Sirius of the Week for June 24 - 30, 2001
Cutter is a three year old Malamute/German Shepherd cross. He's a gorgeous
dog, who has trouble taking a walk through the neighborhood, as strangers
keep stopping him and his human to exclaim about what a good looking dog he is.
Cutter takes after his Malamute side more than his German Shepherd side,
being a real singer, digger, and puller. He rarely barks, but has an amazing
repertoire of roo-roo-roos. He can even say "I love you" on command! He's
also very good at standing and walking on his hind legs, a trick he picked
up when he wasn't allowed to jump up on someone. Instead, he would stand up
and balance (technically not "on" you) and got such praise for it, that he
shows off all the time now. He's been known to walk more than six feet on
his hind legs, backwards.
Cutter is the king animal in a house with more than 30 pets. He knows that
he is most-favored, and therefore doesn't have any need to prove anything.
Instead, he lets the other animals walk all over him, knowing he can get
what he wants later. Besides his pack-mate Jetty, a Black Lab mix, his
favorite buddy is Stuart, a tiny black kitten, who sleeps with him and
washes his big ears.
Cutter is a kitten himself when it comes to his owners, bowing to their
alpha status. For some reason, he loves being treated with stinky medicine,
and will happily jump onto the couch and roll onto his back if it's time for
ear mite oil or a dose of flea repellant. With this many pets in the house,
there's usually someone being treated for something, and he always wants in
on the action.
