Sirius of the Week for September 3 - 9, 2000
Samantha is a 5 month old deaf border collie. Her person mom
became so involved with advocating the rescue of deaf dogs after
seeing what a wonderful dog
Rocky
was that she jumped at the chance to foster Samantha. Samantha's
breeder was not prepared to train a deaf puppy. The fostering went
out the window though after mom brought her home -- she knew
Samantha was here to stay.
She is not as adept as her canine brother Rocky yet with sign
language but she is still very young. She is a bit
of a scatterbrain who loves to chase invisible mice around barking
her head off as she does. But Samantha is so pretty to look at that
her family forgives her for being a bit flighty!
