Sirius of the Week for July 8 - 14, 2007
Our Sirius is Sierra, and her person-mom says,
"Here is my little girl Sierra. She is deaf, but you
would never know it. She is a double dapple doxie and is wild
and crazy. Sierra will chase her ball for 23 hours a day if
I would let her. She is crazy for her ball, or anything else
she can get someone to throw. This photo is a
rare time she decided to take a nap. Can you tell
where the blanket begins and the dog ends? TOO CUTE -
I call her my snuggle bunny.
"(A regular dapple doxie [Dachshund] is usually black and tan
with silver/white markings throughout the fur. But a double dapple
doxie is where there are predominate white spots on the body.)
Sierra is 4 years old. I got her
from a breeder in Oregon. I saw the ad in the paper, and one of my
friends was looking for a doxie. I went with her so she could check
them out, and this little one kept crying at my feet and looking at
my face. I really wanted to take her home with me, but they weren't
sure they were going to sell her due to her deafness. My friend
decided to get one named "Kramer," and off we went back to Washington
to get him. For 2 days, I whined and complained about the
little deaf dog and how much she wanted to come and live with me.
Finally all my friends were sick of me whining, and they told me you
only live once. So, 2 days later we went back and got Sierra.
I was living in an apartment at the time that didn't allow dogs, but
I soon moved and all has worked out for the best."
