Sirius of the Week for July 1 - 7, 2007
This week we remember Tonto, who was a wonderful, fun dog to be around.
His person-mom writes,
"He was 14 years old when he passed away on March
1st. We got him when he was only 8 weeks old. At that time, we had
a pet raccoon. The raccoon was also a baby, and his name
was Lone Ranger so that is how Tonto got his name --
Lone Ranger's friend. Tonto was so small the
raccoon somehow knew Tonto was a baby; he cupped
his hands under so he would not scratch Tonto with his
nails, and he would duck his head so he would not
bite him. They played chase all the time, up and
down trees! Yes, Tonto climbed a tree -- it was kinda
slanted though. But he would go up, and then the
'coon would knock him down, and Tonto would go back
up the tree. One day the raccoon ran away, and after that Tonto played
with Beau [who was Sirius 3 weeks ago].

"They played all the time. Tonto thought he
was BOSS no matter whom he played with. He loved playing with a
small bone shaped
terry cloth toy that squeaked. I would fool him
sometimes -- I would get a replacement squeaker then
squeak it to make him think I had his toy. LOL! Tonto would
carry his toy around until he found a place to hide it, and leave it
there, thinking I would not find it. At that point, I would say, 'I
see where you are hiding that toy!' Then he would
find somewhere else to hide it. He was so smart!"
Tonto is sorely missed
