Sirius of the Week for June 4 - 10, 2000
This week we feature Vanity, or more formally, Fairoaks Lookingglass.
She is a female Scottish Terrier who is nearly three years old. She
is the alpha female in her house (of 7 dogs, all Scotties). According
to her person-mom, she likes to take "cheap shots" at the other dogs.
She will wait for one of them to go by and then try to take a bite.
Vanity is very sweet with people. She is a lap dog who loves to
watch TV. She especially likes to watch programs with animals in
them -- she enjoys barking at the animals. She likes her dog biscuit
treats (referred to as cookies) and will happily accept an animal
cracker if given the chance.
Vanity has had a litter of puppies and a couple of her puppies have
started showing. Vanity herself also goes to shows. She took a
year off but is back working toward her championship. That means
she needs to get 15 points by winning as the best female Scottish
Terrier at three or more shows; and at 2 of those show she must win
3 or more points. Both Vanity's sire (Ch. Glenby's Look Me Over)
and dam (Ch. Fairoaks Rushlight) were champions so she has an
excellent chance of achieving hers. (If you notice, both Vanity
and her mother have the name "Fairoaks". That is the name of the
kennel where they were born. Vanity is the 4th generation born at
the Fairoaks Kennel.)
