Siriuses of the Week for November 14 - 20, 2004
This week we remember Pepper and say hello to Spice. Their person-mom
writes from India,
"It's been a year and two months since my dog Pepper passed away at
the age of 11. He was perfectly healthy so his death was a shock for
all of us. He didn't seem old or tired, and he was always ready to
play like a puppy. I still remember how high he used to jump when he
barked at people passing our home. I remember how gently he used
to uncover my face with his paws when i was crying. I remember the games
of tug and war we played. I remember how he loved to be petted
and his own special way of barking. Pepper was the gentlest dog I
have ever come across and the most sensitive. I remember when he
used to run in the street back and forth, back and forth.....zoooom....
full speed. And I would try to get ahold of him but never could.
Then when he was tired, he would just come trotting back. Pepper was
loyal and very loving, very playful, and I miss him. He took his last
breath in my arms; he had a heart attack. The doctor said it's pretty
common. I miss him all the time. We buried him in the garden of
eternal peace, a special place to lay down your lovely companions.
"One of my new dogs is Spice. He is only about 6 months in the picture
I've sent. Spice was given to me by a friend on the same day that
Pepper died. Maybe it's just my imagination, but I find Spice to have
some of the traits Pepper had, although no one can ever replace Pepper.
Spice has a very special place too, and since I don't know when he was
born so 7th October is the day I have marked as his birthday. I love
my dogs dearly and get the same affection from them. This is a
message from me to all the people in the world......treat animals
with affection. That is what they were meant for, and what you get in
return is unconditional love!"
